About Me
Megan Campbell
Yoga Teacher, Meditation Guide, Psychotherapist. Philantropist.
My journey on the path of Yoga started in 2005, when my mother, who had already been doing Yoga for a few years, convinced me to try a class. I did, and that was the beginning of my love affair with the ancient art of Living.
After my first class ended I felt alive again. I could breathe, and more importantly realized how long I had neglected my own needs and wants, and that it was time to reclaim them. It was after my very first class I decided that I wanted to learn more and signed up for a Yoga Teacher Training. The moment I taught my first Sun Salutations, in my first 200hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2006, I knew this was my path- sharing and teaching Yoga.
Throughout my twenties I traveled all over the world and in 2008 I combined my passion for travel with my passion for Yoga. I travelled to India for a second 200 hour Yoga Teacher training program with Yogi Vishvektu, a prominent teacher with a Ph.D in Yoga. It was the most incredible experience of my life. While there I met women who inspired me and truly taught me what female friendship was. After returning from India I made it my mission to share the inspiration and teachings with other women.
Over the past 18 years, I have taught at studio's around the Ottawa area, as well as corporate classes at businesses such as Mitel and Alcatel. I also served as a Lululemon Ambassador twice. Since 2006, I have also completed an 800hr. Yoga Philosophy course by correspondence with Georg Feuerstine, studied extensively with Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Sara Avant Stover, and Gabrielle Bernstein.
I am a student of A Course in Miracles and continue to expand + grow through my daily yoga and meditation practices.
Part of my love for all life has been a strong calling to support all women along a path of healing, empowerment, and transformation. Over the course of four years, through my philanthropic endeavors, I raised over $350,000 for local and international charities that support women and girls. I created Yoga, Action, Adventure trips that brought people to Guatemala + Nepal to build homes and schools for under served communities. I developed an virtual 'pay it forward' program, Be the Change Challenge, that provided participants with daily yoga, health, and wellness in return for fundraising for our charity of choice. I also created and hosted the Yogini Yogathon in Ottawa where women would participate in a full day of yoga after raising funds for our local and national charity that changed each year. I personally raised over $20,000 for Off the Mat, Into the World and travelled to India to support survivors of sex trafficking.
I have also founded and run a successful Yoga Teacher Training school - Sacred Movement Canada - offering training programs exclusively for women, in intimate settings, with the intention of offering traditional and sacred teachings of Yoga, compassion in action, and living life with purpose and intention. Sacred Movement has also offered 300 hour YTT's and Advanced Vinyasa and Yin + Meditation Training's throughout Ontario and Nicaragua.
All of this work, both on and off the mat, has gifted me with a Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for Philanthropy by way of nomination from Care Canada.
Additionally, I have a BA in Psychology and am currently enrolled in a MA program in Spirituality & Counselling - Psychotherapy - at Saint Paul University in Ottawa with plans to work supporting women overcoming trauma and addiction.
